Dentist business card: content, design and ideas

Printed Floss Card in business card format

The dentist business card is often the first thing patients take home from a practice: at the front desk, after the first consultation, at an open day. It carries your name, address and phone number, and it shapes the first impression. With a few decisions about content and design, it becomes more than a small card with contact details.

What belongs on a dental practice business card

Less is more. These details have proven their worth:

  • Practice name and logo. They make sure the card is recognised straight away.
  • Name and role. In group practices, a separate card for each dentist, with title and, if applicable, area of focus.
  • Address and phone number. Keep the phone number easy to read, as it is the most common route to an appointment.
  • Website and online booking. Easiest as a QR code that leads straight to the booking page.
  • Opening hours. Only if they rarely change. Otherwise they belong on the website.

Layout: front and back

Front for the brand. Logo, practice name and practice colours, set generously. A full-bleed printed surface looks more high-quality than a small logo on a white background.

Back for the next step. Contact details, QR code and a short line such as “Book your appointment online”. If you also want to use the card as an appointment reminder, plan a field for date and time. You will find ideas in our article on the dental recall card.

Design tips for the dentist business card

  1. One design style for everything. Business card, website, practice sign and recall card should all use the same colours and fonts.
  2. Legibility before decoration. Text not too small, enough contrast, phone number and QR code kept clear of the edge.
  3. Use finishing selectively. UV gloss or hot foil in gold or silver on the logo makes the card stand out without overloading it.
  4. Set up the print data correctly. Format, bleed and special colours are covered in the print data specifications.

The business card patients keep

Classic paper business cards tend to be collected and then forgotten. An alternative is the floss business card: it has the usual size of 85 × 55 mm, is only 1.6 mm thin and contains about 10 metres of waxed dental floss. Front and back can be printed full-bleed in CMYK, with everything you would put on a normal business card.

The difference: the card gets used. It sits in the wallet or in the bathroom, and every time it is picked up, the practice name is in view again. For a dental practice, the theme also fits the sender perfectly.

When to use the business card

  • At the front desk for new patients and anyone accompanying them.
  • After a hygiene appointment as a small thank-you with the next appointment on the back.
  • At a practice opening or an open day. More in the marketing checklist for a practice opening.
  • For referrers and partners, for example in a letter or tucked into a greeting card.
